How long have you been interested in Radio?
I have been interested in radio since I was six years of age. For that birthday, my grandparents gave me a clockwork gramophone and some records. For the next few months, my brother and I used to play radio stations, using friends and neighbours names for requests and dedications.

What radio experience have you had?
I joined Hospital Radio Swindon (then Studio One Six) in June 1969. I was heard on the cable radio network at Swindon Viewpoint with a news scrapbook programme in the mid-1970’s. In 1989, I was a representative of HRS when the county’s hospital radio stations joined forces with BBC Wiltshire Sound to present a programme called ‘At Your Request’. This led to freelance work which included several features, special bank holiday music shows and a documentary. In 1991, I co-produced and co-presented ‘Sunday Sounds Easy’ with Shirley Ludford. My programmes have been heard on Radio Atlanta, Flame FM and Unity FM. In 2002, Flame FM entered my documentary series for the Andrew Cross Broadcasting Award.

How did you get involved in Swindon FM?
Through Carl Humphries.

What do you think you bring to the station?
Maturity, knowledge, and a lot of experience at local level.

What sort of music do you like?
I enjoy a wide range of musical styles.

Why?

What other interests do you have?
Gardening and writing. I have a one-man show of my original poems and stories, which has been touring local groups for several years.

What are your aims for the future?
My aim is to continue as I am. To learn and improve as time goes on. Most of all, to enjoy doing so
