How long have you been interested in Radio?
I first became interested back in 1979 when I got involved with Swindon's first community station, Swindon Viewpoint. That reminds me that's where I first met Shirly Ludford... it all seems so long ago!

What radio experience have you had?
I helped the team produce programmes for several years on Swindon Viewpoint before going off to play in the world of Television!

How did you get involved in Swindon FM?
Having Headed up a Cable Tv Channel for a number of years I have always been interested in truly local Tv and Radio stations. I was only too pleased to get involved with the first trial broadcast of Swindon FM in September 2001. I headed up the news team and we were certainly busy... I joined the team the day after the September 11th terrorist attacks... as you can imagine it was a very busy time.

What do you think you bring to the station?
I hope that my local knowledge and understanding of Swindon and the people who live here gives me a feel for what stories really matter in today's media rich society! I have also brought my own microphone and coffee!!

What sort of music do you like?
I have to say I don't have a particular type of music and I believe that to be one of the big strengths of Swindon FM. Whatever your taste you are bound to hear something that you like... except if you listen to Simon Hawkins that is!

Why?
What is good for someone might not be good for others... variety is the spice of life and our mix of music and presenters sets a unique tone for the station and the listener.

What other interests do you have?
Coming from Swindon I do admit to having an interest in trains and railways, although my anorak and notebook have long since gone! My full time job keeps me busy and in touch with the media and when not working I'm taking it easy or preparing for the Saturday Brunch righ here on Swindon FM.

What are your aims for the future?
I would like to see Swindon FM get the licence, the advertisers and most importantly the listeners that it deserves. I have said before that Swindon deserves to be served by a truly local commercial radio service, the team here are more than committed to ensure that happens... I have every faith that it's just a matter of time.
