How
long have you been interested in Radio?
Always - since listening to radio one in the early eightes (before it was
on FM even!) to recent internet and DAB stations, I've always got a radio
on somewhere!
What radio experience have you had?
Started off in Hospital Radio Swindon when still a teenager, through
to assisting with Wiltshire Radio (now GWR) whilst at college. Most
recently, I have been a presenter with Flame FM in Swindon and, of
course, Swindon FM!
How did you get involved in Swindon FM?
I just called up and told them I was available! I wanted to get involved
with a local station that played the kind of music I liked, and had
guests that I actually found interesting! And Swindon FM appeared to
be only place that met my needs. After a few chats over coffee, and
a demo mini-disk, I was on-board - and I've never looked back.
What do you think you bring to the station?
I'd like to think that my listeners enjoy listing to great music from
the last 3 decades, but also the brief segments between of news, newspaper
reviews, interesting items like celebrity birthdays, on this day in
history, our latest soap updates, when we let everyone know what to
expect in the week ahead, and the weekly entertainment news.
What sort of music do you like?
I like all music - oh, except some modern R&B and Rap (but I wouldn't
necessarily call that music anyway!) I studied classical music at college.
But I especially enjoy 70s Disco and 80s New Romantics!
Why?
Because they don't write tunes like that anymore! I like a lot of modern
dance music - but only because they are really just re-workings of
old 80s hits! Just shows that even the kids now appreciate good music!
